Kilim exhibition to be held in Semnan

TEHRAN, July 29 (MNA) -- An exhibition of kilim carpets organized by the Semnan Handicrafts Department is to be held at the Semnan Cultural Center in late summer, the Persian service of the Cultural Heritage News (CHN) agency reported on Friday.

The exhibition will feature works woven by artisans of the region.

The kilim, one of the most ancient hand-woven works, has been produced in Iran for centuries and is considered a typical handicraft in most provinces, particular in regions where nomads reside.

Despite the fact that all kilims woven in Iran enjoy the same general weaving techniques, each work has its own uniqueness which even laymen can distinguish.

The Semnan Handicrafts Department also plans to hold various exhibitions in Semnan in fall and winter.
